Redmi 5 & Redmi 5 Plus with 18:9 Display & MIUI 9 Coming on December 7

This year it has been the trend of bezeless phones in which the smartphone makers are trying to reduce the body to screen ratio as much as possible. Previously, Xiaomi released their fully bezeless smartphone: Mi Mix.Lately, in 2017 they released it successor Mix 2 which achieved a lot of success!

Now, Xiaomi is trying to launch a budget-oriented 18:9 full-screen display. The phone's key attractions of this device are 18:9 full-screen display, soft-toned selfie-light, and a large battery.

Redmi 5 to be launched on 7th December,2017

As it was rumored since the beginning, the Xiaomi Redmi 5 will have a 5.7-inch HD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. This isn’t a surprising news because, since the start, it was said that the Redmi 5 would come with an 18:9 display to match the ongoing trend of bezel-less smartphones.

Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5

However, what’s surprising here is that the listing suggests that the device will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC. As per the listing, the Redmi 5 will come with an MSM8953 SoC, which indeed is the Snapdragon 625 chipset. There was an image leaked online showing specifications of a Redmi smartphone, and it was said to be the Redmi Note 5. Nevertheless, going by this report, the phone must be the Redmi 5 itself.

Earlier reports revealed that Xiaomi would power the Redmi 5 smartphone with Snapdragon 450 SoC, but a Snapdragon 625 SoC smartphone at an even cheaper rate will be much-appreciated move. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, as per the China Telecom listing. There might be other RAM and storage variants well.

Moreover, the listing suggests a 12MP camera at the back, along with a 5MP sensor on the front. This entire package will be fuelled with a 3300mAh battery, a downgrade from the 4100mAh unit seen on the Xiaomi Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4.

Suggested: Redmi Note 5 to launch soon?

Also, the images of the smartphone reveal a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, much like earlier Redmi smartphones. The Xiaomi Redmi 5 will measure 7.7mm in thickness and weighs around 157 grams. The 4GB+64GB storage variant will be priced at 1399 Yuan, which converts to Rs 13,900.

On December 7, the Redmi Note 5 may also be launched with the Redmi 5 and its variants!
